Services
ENGLISH – GERMAN
I mainly translate from English into German, my native language. On request I also take on translations into English and arrange proofreading by an English native speaker.
Translation
I translate both general and complex texts in specific fields of expertise, taking into account your corporate terminology.
Certified translations
For official purposes, I also provide certified translations, for instance of references and certificates.
Proofreading
Four eyes see more than two. Having existing translations checked by a second translator can be a very effective exercise.
Editing
Even if no translation services are required, I will be happy to assist you in drafting and phrasing your German texts.
I use various CAT tools (Computer Assisted Translation) for quality assurance. CAT tools support translators in their work. These tools are not designed to produce automated translations, but to ensure, for instance, the consistent use of technical terms and phrasing, prevent spelling mistakes and number transpositions and adopt source text formatting in the target text. By default I work with the tools Trados Studio, memoQ and Alchemy Catalyst.
Expertise
LANGUAGE SKILLS MEET SPECIALISATION
Professional translations not only call for sound language skills, but also specialised background knowledge. For this reason, I focus on specific areas of specialisation:
Business/economics and finance
Investment analyses, market forecasts, investment fund reports, banking software, professional articles, company presentations, business correspondence, comparative studies, process descriptions, etc.
Marketing
PowerPoint presentations, websites, market analyses, customer surveys, voice-over texts e.g. for image videos, etc.
Education
Comparative studies in education, print and online course material, teaching material, questionnaires, etc.
Of course, I also translate all kinds of general texts. Please contact me if you are unsure as to whether your documents are covered by these areas of specialisation. If the subject matter is not within my field, I will be happy to recommend colleagues with the relevant specialist knowledge.

LANGUAGES ARE MY PASSION
I am equally fascinated by the linguistic details of English as a world language, and by the complexity of Icelandic grammar. Living for several years in both England and Iceland, as well as university studies in both languages, have taught me to use them both in everyday life as well as in a professional or technical context. This fascination also instilled in me a passion for both languages, which is why language became my profession.
This is why your texts are in expert hands with me:

Prices
INVESTMENT IN CLEAR COMMUNICATION
Language and texts are as versatile as customer requirements. Therefore, I am happy to provide you with a personal quotation.
Quotation basis
Standard prices cannot generally be applied to translations and similar language services. Costs depend on various factors such as text length, language pair, field of expertise, complexity and the time required for the assignment.
While I generally base quotes for translations on the word count of the source text, an hourly rate is standard for revising and proofreading assignments. Occasionally a flat rate may apply, for example in the case of very small assignments or non-editable texts such as certificates.
Personal quotation
You receive your personal quotation free of charge. Please supply the following information to receive a quotation:
- specify into which target language the text is to be translated (in the case of English: American or British)
- the delivery date for the translation
- does the translation need to be authenticated
- do you wish proofreading based on four-eyes principle
- do specific aspects need to be observed, for instance corporate terminology, editorial guide, etc.
